Are you sexy or sensual?

Are you sexy or sensual? What's the difference? Is there a difference? If you ask 50 different sex bloggers to tell you the difference between sexy and sensual, you'd likey get 50 different answers. It's like asking, what's the difference between erotica and porn. Some say there's no difference. Others say it is the quality but there's still lots of sex. And yet others would say that porn is sex and erotica is the allusion of sex. It's all up to you to create your own definition.

I like to find out what the actual definitions are so here they are:

Sexy
(according to dictionary.com)
1.concerned predominantly or excessively with sex; risqué: a sexy novel.
2.sexually interesting or exciting; radiating sexuality: the sexiest professor on campus.
3.excitingly appealing; glamorous: a sexy new car.

Sensual
(according to dictionary.com)
1.pertaining to, inclined to, or preoccupied with the gratification of the senses or appetites; carnal; fleshly.
2.lacking in moral restraints; lewd or unchaste.
3.arousing or exciting the senses or appetites.
4.worldly; materialistic; irreligious.
5.of or pertaining to the senses or physical sensation; sensory.
6.pertaining to the philosophical doctrine of sensationalism

Funny, but there doesn't seem to be much of a difference. In fact, sensual seems to be just a step further towards the sexual than sexy does.

I tend to think of it being the other way around though. I think of sensual as being more understated and sexy as being more "out there" or "in your face".

To me, sexy is a woman who walks into a room with every intention of seducing her lover and having her way with him or her all night long. Her hips have and intentional sway. Her breast thrust forward in anticipation. Her smile is knowing and mischeivious. She knows what she wants and she knows she is going to get it.

Sensual is that same woman the next day. She is fully satisfied. She is confident, relaxed, and self-possessed. She is sensual in the way she walks, in the way she smiles at people and they don't quite know what is behind that smile, in the way she knows she can accomplish anything. She is content and self-assured.
